Desires, lust and stuff!

11 Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.
1 Peter 2:11

The other day I was reading this verse and it just occurred to me how bad sinful desires can be. In this day and age sinful desires like lust are being promoted and are just seen as innocent. But notice it says in this passage that it wages war against our souls!
I think of all these things and its true the more I engage in sinful desires here and there the more distant I feel from God no matter how innocent the world calls it it wages war against my soul and yours too, especially desire for sinful things. So how can we protect our souls? the verses that comes to mind are Ephesians 6:11-18.
We need to be serious about prayer and I need to too because prayer is our communication with God it is what keeps us going and provides us with what we need to stay focused and continue the journey its our ammo. If we pray according to God's will our prayers will be given what we ask for --- yes that's true read it here in 1 John 5:14-15. Our will needs to become God's will else we cannot fully commit to Him or be sure of our salvation.
Jesus loves you and He will be delighted for you to intentionally spend time with Him and give all that you have.
Don't worry trust God he has a plan for you not just everyone else!
Be encouraged

In Christ alone

13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Phillipians 4:13

13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

From the verses above, highlighted in bold are the things which show how we owe all of our glory for doing good to God. It is a false idea to think that any of our works are our own doing. As much a you think you are capable of doing good without God you cannot. Yes thats right, it is God who enables us to do good we can do no good without him. You may be thinking I know many people who do good without God but that is not right because the good we do without God is not really good but it has a catch to it or some condition. Likewise we can't truly love without God because God is the only true love. The world's idea of doing good and true love is most distorted. So we need to know God's great works and love and reconnect with Him by his Holy Spirit or else the world's ways will influence us. We need to fix our eyes on Jesus and making use of our most powerful tool we have which is prayer. People may disagree with what we tell them but they cannot dampen our prayers.

Give it to God!

Todays Verse
The name of the Lord is a fortified tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe.
Proverbs 18:10

I can get so stressed, worried and anxious when I depend on myself. Being independent is of the world and the world makes being independent seem like a great virtue. They say this because you are not depending on someone else you and you don't need anyone to support you. However, as believers in Christ we are called to be different. (see Romans 12:2)
Dependence is not a bad thing in context. I am not encouraging you to depend on everyone and anyone. I am talking about dependence on God, our creator. I am talking about truly casting all your worries and cares upon Him (see 1 Peter 5:7, Philippians 4:6-7, Matthew 6:25-34) and giving your life to Him not worrying or fretting over the possible outcome but trusting that He has something better (see Matthew 6:26). The more we depend and look to God and the more vulnerable we make ourselves towards Him because of our surrendering all to Him, the better we are. We allow God's presence to penetrate us and for worry, anxiety and stress to disappear. We are called to humble ourselves like little children (see Matthew 23:12). In humbling ourselves and giving our lives to our Savior and denying ourselves we will find real peace.
God Bless,

Faith over fear

Todays passage: Exodus 4:13-17
13 But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.”
14 Then the Lord’s anger burned against Moses and he said, “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and he will be glad to see you. 15 You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. 16 He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him. 17 But take this staff in your hand so you can perform the signs with it.”

I found that I could really relate to this passage and I thank God for showing me this. God is loving and this passage just shows that He can use anyone but the thing is that it is a necessity for you to have faith in God for Him to use you. Moses was not the best at speaking (and I am not either) but even when God gave Moses the power to perform wonderful miracles, Moses still doubted and lacked faith when God asked him to speak to the Egyptians. I am not hear to pick at Moses because I feel like this has been me many times because of a lack of faith and a heart of fear.
You see the thing is we have to let go of our feelings and our fears to be truly used by God none of us are perfect and if you are waiting to become confident or putting of God's fear until you are qualified you are wrong. When God speaks we must obey immediately and if we don't carry out a task that God has called us to do then someone else will have to do it in our place as we see God sent Aaron instead. But this doesn't come without consequences because every sin has its consequence which is death and being disobedient to God is sin however we have grace from God and forgiveness through Christ but we are NOT to take advantage of this grace because we will all be judged (see 2 Corinthians 5:10). But the difference with believers is they will have eternal life. The end will come (see Habbakuk 2:3-4).

Being real

I was watching a sermon titled "Suffering in Silence" by Cornelius Lindsey and I couldn't help but feel so convicted. He mentioned about as we say so many things in our testimony and with our actions etc that make us seem like we have the perfect life but in reality we are silently suffering from something, which we need to be open about. People who are suffering are looking for someone to relate to and we need to be actively showing love to these people and opening up to others, we are not above anyone. We need to see eye to eye to people. We have come in to the knowledge of Jesus and this gift is purely his own, we didn't add anything to it we accepted it because God gave us the Holy Spirit to see our need to (see Ephesians 2:8). Even now all the good work in us is purely the work of God and he is changing us to be more like Him as believers. I am not perfect on any level appearances can be fooling we can think from the outside that a person has everything. But if you take a look at the heart you can see how messed up we are. (see 1 Samuel 16:7)
I just want to encourage you today that if you are suffering in silence to seek Jesus I suffer with many things too and I think the best thing to do is for us to pray that we would genuinely and truly find your joy, hope and peace in God and that Jesus would be your foundation of life and that nothing would replace that foundation because one day everything will be made known the pretending and everything will be exposed (see Luke 8:17, Matthew 10:26, Mark 4:22) so why fake it (see Habbakuk 2:3

Not of the world (2): Selfish Ambition

Today's verse(s): James 3:14-16
14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15 Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

The two root causes in this passage are the opposite of the fruits of the Spirit. if anyone is to harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in their hearts it is not something worthy of boasting about rather we should seek the truth and ask God to change our hearts, we are all born in sin and have all fallen short of God's standard (see Romans 3:23). Therefore, we are all guilty and we must acknowledge this and not harbor any type of sin in our hearts (see 1 John 1:8). If a person remains to harbor envy and selfish ambition then disorder and evil practice comes and this is evident in our world today where there are disorders of many kind and many evil practices that follow. The root of all these things are sin and we must admit that we have sinned to God and be truly willing for him to change us and to embrace his change. It is not impossible to change, even though it may seem it I have struggled for years to see change in my own life and I can see now that God has been working all along to provide something better although it may seem bad at the time just analyze your situation and pray to see the good in what God has given you to do. In this passage selfish ambition is all over the world and I've been guilty of it myself, selfish ambition is to be self-seeking and self-serving but we are called to be different as the body of Christ we are the light of the world we are to shine (see Matthew 5:14-16) and we are also called to use the gift we have been given from God to serve others. (see 1 Peter 4:10). We are also to look to Christ as our flawless example. Christ was humble and He served others and He told us to love others more than He loved himself, He loved us enough to give his perfect life for sinners like you and me out of love so that we could be saved (see Luke 19:10 and Matthew 20:28) . The root of putting and serving others before yourself is love (see Galatians 5:14). Remember in all that you are doing that you are not earning God's favour, He loves us always but rather we are serving God and not sin anymore as christians this is our duty, our reward is in heaven (see Mark 9:35). I just pray that each person who reads this blog will give thier life to Jesus (if they haven't already) and to keep striving forward in their faith in Christ.
God bless y'all

Not of the world (1): Lust

15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father[a] is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 1 John 2:15-16

The enemy can deceive us as Christians in many ways and we need to be on our guard at all times by reading our word, praying. We also must pray that we are clothed with the Armour of God so that we are able to fight against any spiritual attack (see Ephesians 6:10-20).
The enemy's attacks are not always blatant to us though which is why we must pray for the Holy Spirit to lead us in all that we do and to give us discernment and we really must be reading the Word of God daily. The enemy will try to disguise himself as an angel of light (see 2 Corinthians 11:14).
Jesus showed us a perfect example of overcoming temptation and He shows that knowing the word is essential to overcome the enemy's attacks (see Matthew 4:1-11). The enemy doesn't come with red horns but he disguises himself in sinful desires and things that tempt us and draw us away from God. He comes to us in the form of temptation. Let us pray that we will remain firm in the faith and that we will resist any temptation and that we would have a clear understanding of God's will and that his will would be done in our lives and that we will submit ourselves wholly to Him and have a desire for Him alone. Pray this in Jesus' name.
God bless you!
